Crispy on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside, this baguette garlic bread is packed with garlicky flavor and only takes minutes to make. It is the perfect side for pasta, soup or salads!
Preheat oven to 400°F and slice the baguette in half, lengthwise. Place cut side up on a baking sheet and set aside.
In a small bowl, add the butter, roasted garlic, and Italian seasoning. Using a small spatula, mash the butter until it is fully combined with the other ingredients. Spread the garlic butter generously on the baguette. Ensuring it is fully covered, right to the edges.
Bake the garlic bread baguette for 5-7 minutes until it is golden brown and the butter is fully melted. Remove from the baking sheet and cut into pieces before serving.
Notes
Note 1 - To roast garlic, preheat the oven to 350°F and peel a whole head of garlic. Place the peeled cloves inside a piece of aluminum foil. Cover with a couple of teaspoons of olive oil, salt and pepper, gather the edges of the foil and wrap tightly into a ball. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and caramelized. Note 2 - If you are using unsalted butter and Italian seasoning without salt (some brands have added salt), add ½ teaspoon of salt to the garlic butter mixture. More Helpful Tips
If you don't have Italian seasoning on hand, you can make a homemade version using basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, marjoram, and parsley.
Other spices can be used in place of Italian seasoning, such as Chipotle Mango Seasoning, Montreal Steak Spice Seasoning, Taco Seasoning, or Cajun Spice. Or, simply leave out the seasoning altogether for a traditional garlic bread.
Add shredded cheese to the top of the garlic butter before baking to make a cheese garlic bread baguette!
Any type of bread can be used to make this garlic bread. I prefer the baguette because it is very rigid and holds up extremely well to all the butter (and hello, butter pockets!!). For a traditional version, use a whole loaf of French bread and double the garlic butter recipe.
