This creamy cold spinach dip is a quick and easy appetizer made with simple ingredients and homemade ranch seasoning, perfect for parties, game day, and entertaining.
Thaw the frozen spinach completely. Transfer the spinach to a clean kitchen towel or several layers of paper towels and squeeze out as much moisture as possible.
Add the drained spinach, sour cream, mayonnaise, ranch seasoning, water chestnuts, and green onions to a large mixing bowl. Stir until the ingredients are fully combined and the spinach is evenly distrubuted throughout the dip.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight to allow the flavors to develop. Serve chilled with vegetables, sourdough bread, crackers, tortilla chips, pita chips or your favorite dippers.
Notes
Ranch Powder: We use our homemade ranch seasoning mix in this recipe. The amount is equivalent to using 2 store-bought ranch seasoning packets.
Spinach: Be sure to remove as much excess water as possible from the thawed spinach. Use a kitchen towel or several layers of paper towel to squeeze out all of the moisture. You can use fresh spinach, but it will need to be cooked, cooled and drained before adding it to the dip.
Sour Cream: Can be swapped for plain Greek yogurt.
