Add the paprika, garlic powder, oregano, onion powder, thyme, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to a small bowl or jar. Stir or shake well until fully combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then store in an airtight container until ready to use.
Notes
Paprika: Smoked or regular can be used. I prefer smoked for a more classic flavor.
Salt: Easily adjust the salt to fit your diet or preference.
Cayenne Pepper: Adjust the heat in this Cajun seasoning by adding more or less cayenne, more will make it spicier, and less will reduce the spiciness.
Add-ins: Some optional add-ins include red pepper flakes, white pepper, and brown sugar.
Use fresh spices for the best flavor in this Cajun spice mix.
Easily double, or triple the recipe to make sure your spice cupboard is fully stocked at all times.
When adjusting the spice mix, the best way to taste it is by pouring a tiny amount of olive oil on a spoon and adding some of the spice mix.
Store the spice blend in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Use it within 3-6 months for the best flavor.
