Hi there! I am Jessica, welcome to my teeny tiny corner of the internet! Without further ado, lets jump right in!
I was born a food lover, and I will never turn down a cupcake. I have loved cooking and sharing my creations with others for as long as I can remember. One of my first memories of baking was with my sweet grandma. We made cookies at her kitchen table, I remember being eyeball height from the cookies she was spooning onto the baking tray and from that moment, I was hooked! Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my mom in the kitchen and that has carried on throughout my adult life.
I am a 98% self-taught cook. For a couple of years in high school, I worked in a kitchen at a pub. The hustle is what intrigued me the most, and it has been one of the attributes that has stuck with me the most. Often, when we host big meals with multiple dishes, it is best to just let me be. I get a vision in my head, and overplan the heck out of it, I know exactly what I want out of the meal before I even go to the grocery store. Trying and learning new things are my favourite parts of cooking. I swear, for a few years we did not eat the same meal twice, every night was something new! I love that!
I met my best friend and now husband, straight out of high school. He was a 26-year-old stud, I was an 18-year-old nerd... trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. We both worked in the same office (for 13 years!), we cook together, you name it, we are together. We are both born and raised Calgarians, and love living close to the mountains. We love camping, road trips out to the valley and west coast in the summer. In the winter, we dream of the summer. LOL!
My biggest passion is creating delicious food. I spend hours upon hours in the kitchen and I am constantly writing down ideas at all hours of the day and night, because if I don’t write it down immediately, it is inevitable, I will forget about it. I take notes and make lists like it was what I was put on this earth to do, haha! Without a doubt, I thrive on organization. My mantra is, "if someone else can do it, so can you!" Yes, I may have had to remake macarons 20 times to get the hang of it, but eventually it worked. I am so excited to share my recipes and ideas with you. Thanks for stopping by!
