    Dash of Sparkle March 2020

Oh March… WHAT HAPPENED. I was hoping March would be more sparkly than it was, but we still managed to get a little dash of sparkle out of all the madness.

I know everyone is being affected by what's been happening in the world lately. But, I am going to tell you exactly how it has gone for us...

    The Beginning of the month

I had just finalized all of my spring content and was super excited to get on with the new season then out of nowhere, the world happened.

Overnight everything was overturned and I was riddled with stress and anxiety, because not having a “plan” is not good for me. I am the kind of person that needs to know what is coming up and what's happening next.

In the course of about a week all of our holidays for the foreseeable future were canceled, and for the first time in a long time I didn't know what was next… no one did. As for our day jobs,  everyday when we went in we didn't know if we would have a job by the end of the day... cue, STRESS.

    Mid March

The realities of the “new normal” started to take shape and sink in. Things started to feel ok again. I watched the news like a crazy person (I now realize that was the fear taking over, and I should have not waited for EVERY SINGLE news announcement and conference, but c'est la vie).

A few good things did happen during the month, we were accepted to a premium ad network, and contacted by a major brand to do some content for them! So that was definitely the silver lining.

    End of the Month

Boom, I got (temporarily) laid off.

A lot of people in my office did. I am not surprised, as no one knows what the outcome of this will be. But, this is the FIRST time in 15 years that I have not had a job! Let me tell you, it is the weirdest feeling ever.

Luckily my better half is still working.

I, on the other hand, spent my whole first day walking around the house, completely lost. I couldn't sit still, I couldn't focus on anything, and I ate an embarrassing amount of mini eggs. Things are starting to get better though. I am refocusing, making lists left and right of things I want to get done, and I am rather excited to have some extra time on my hands to finally get around to some projects I have been wanting to do!

Other things that happened this month

Well, the best news of all was getting accepted to a premium ad network! And I am going to stop here and say a big THANK YOU to every one of you! You are the ones that made this happen, and I am so grateful for you!

We were also presented an opportunity to work with a pretty great brand! That will be coming up soon, so keep your eyes open for that!

I started my seeds for this year! This is something I do almost every year. Last year my plants were horrible and I ended up turning them into fertilizer half way through the season. But this year I did some heavy research, and took a completely different approach. I planted them differently than I ever have before and I have been treating them to extra fluorescent light and water.

I planted them a few weeks ago and they have quite literally taken off! So here's hoping that the snow goes away soon and the ground thaws or I am going to have quite the garden in our bonus room...

As for the basement development, Eddie has been full steam ahead on that! He has made some unbelievable progress and it is looking so good! I’ll do some updates on my insta stories soon, if you're curious, you can also see all of my other sporadic basement updates saved on my instagram page.

    New on the blog

Despite all of the craziness that went on this month, I did manage to get some KILLER recipes developed and posted!

    Mini Egg Cookie Bars

These are a new favourite treat in our house… in fact we ate the WHOLE pan in two days. Not something that I am proud of, but it happened.

    Apricot Sesame Turkey Meatballs

These meatballs have been a favourite of mine for years. I love making them for make-ahead lunches throughout the week!

    Chicken and Dumplings

This is the perfect “pantry cooking” recipe. You will most likely be able to find all of these simple ingredients in your pantry and it is super easy to turn them into this delicious stew!

I hope all of you are staying healthy and happy during these crazy times! I know mental health can greatly be affected in these kinds of situations, so I want to let each and everyone one of you know, if you need someone to talk to, feel free to reach out to us, we are all in this together and we are here for you!

Reach out, we are all in this together.

Also, in the coming weeks let me know if there is anything specific that you want to see! I know with being confined to our houses we will be cooking with what we have, and we are rearranging our recipes to help bring you inspiration to keep cooking delicious meals!
