With summer here in full swing it is the perfect time to introduce these little gems to the world.
So, what is in a paloma anyways?
A paloma contains grapefruit juice and tequila, all the other ingredients in this version are just bonuses to push this drink over the edge!
The addition of simple syrup and lime juice give this drink a subtle sweet, tangy-ness that is just PERFECT for summertime.

Simple Syrup
Simple syrup is the key ingredient to a TON of cocktails. The best news? It is probably the simplest ingredient to make.
All simple syrup is, is a mixture of sugar and water. There are a lot of different ways that this can be made, but the ratio that we like to use is a 1:2 ratio of granulated sugar to water.
This is the simple syrup that you will need for this cocktail.
Simple syrup keeps for up to one month in the refrigerator.
Grab the blender, it’s paloma time!

The first thing you have to do is prepare the cocktail glasses! To do this, use a slice of grapefruit and slide the slice around the rim of the glass. Dip the rim of the glass into the kosher salt and swirl around until the rim is coated.
Another alternative to using a slice of grapefruit, is to use a small amount of simple syrup on a paper towel. Use the towel to spread it around the rim of the glass, then dip and swirl the glass in the kosher salt.
Basically for this step you can use anything that is kind of “sticky”. Grapefruit slice, lime slice, simple syrup, you can make pretty much anything work for this step.

To make the drink, all you have to do is in the jar of a blender combine the peeled grapefruit, ice cubes, tequila, simple syrup, and lime juice. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until the drink is completely smooth and fully blended.

Divide the grapefruit palomas evenly into the 2 prepared cocktail glasses. The drinks will be quite frothy straight out of the blender so let them sit for 2 minutes and then stir before serving. After this last stir the drinks will stay fully combined and delicious.

Upping the servings
Thinking of making these for the next BBQ? Well the good news is that you can easily triple, or quadruple this recipe.

Prepare the exact same way, just multiple the ingredients by how many servings you want to make and keep the prepared grapefruit palomas in a pitcher in the fridge- they’ll last for hours! Unless of course you drink them all, because once you taste how delicious these are they will be gone in minutes!
